One of the most sought-after players in the IPL and a seasoned leader, Iyer was signed by PBKS for an unprecedented Rs 26.75 crore, making him the second most expensive player in the November auction. Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting, with whom he had a productive time at Delhi Capitals, where they led the team to the 2020 IPL final, will reconnect at PBKS.

Iyer achieved an unprecedented feat in IPL history thanks to the new job that was given to him. He is now the only Indian captain in the history of the competition to serve as captain of the Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and PBKS.
